Soft curves, contrasting materials, and the traditional technique of bending wood by hand comprise the basis for the elegant CHIPS lounge chair. The visually delicate yet distinctive bend in the backrest bears a resemblance to the typical potato chip, which lent the chair its name. The CHIPS lounge chair was created for the prestigious Das Haus project of the imm cologne international interiors show. The chair imparts the sensual language of its designer, Lucie Koldova, and plays with light passing through the large backrest with perforated fabric infill. With a combination of semi-transparent material in the raised backrest, the chair permeates space while space permeates the chair. The CHIPS chair is characteristic with its expressive oval backrest in combination with the comfortable velvet seat that traces the line of the bent plywood of the same shape. The chair touches the floor at only three points, which evokes a structural lightness while providing maximum comfort.
